Most of us are busy running around doing too many things that we never seem to stop and be able to appreciate what life is all about. This often leads to us becoming stressed and unable to sleep well. If we do not get proper nights sleep then we wake up tired, grumpy and unable to perform at our optimum level. If we are tired, this can disrupt our digestive system and whoever is in the bed with us, which leads us to reaching for phones to find out what the time is at 03.30, even though it’s still dark.

Does this sound like you?

There is a solution to this and I will give you some ideas to help you create the healthy lifestyle that we all want. We all want to have vitality, health and vibrancy, feel good and enjoy life to the maximum. Having a good night sleep will help you to achieve all this.

1. When you go to sleep at night be grateful to all of the things that have happened to you during that day, even the bad things. Plus the two pints that you had in the pub you were staying in.

2. Write a list of all of the things that you have achieved that day and then tick off what    you have done.

3. Try to eat early in the evening as late night snacks need to be digested and this disrupts your sleep pattern. Fortunately, this does not apply to alcohol.

4. Try not to have a television of other distractions in your bedroom. The bedroom is for not sleeping but fun and games. Use your imagination for this bit.

5. If you are worried about something, write it down and this will help you to work out the solutions whilst you sleep.

6. Listen to nice relaxation tapes to help you to sleep.

7. Try and do some walking or exercise early in the evening. If you exercise too late it will disrupt your sleep. This includes arm exercises at the bar.

8. Try not to drink or smoke, before bed and have a nice glass of hot chocolate instead. Alcohol and nicotine stop you from having good nights sleep……Did I really write this?!!! I must have been possessed by some do-good, alter-ego.

9. Invest in a good bed, nice bedding and good support pillows. We spend a third of our lives in bed, so it is worth the investment. Beds at hotels can be supplemented by sleepless nights which lead to great tales! That is another story; watch this space for the full story. To Be continued.

10. I hope you all have sweet dreams and hope that you never get to stay in the same hotel as Kelly and Adam.
