How to build your business from a grass roots level.

Work out what your skills are and build on those.

Learn from your weaknesses and find someone who is good at what you are weak at and learn from them.

Get to know people in the local community and find out what they want.

Build a supportive team around you so you can help each other to grow.

Find out as much as you can from people who are already doing a similar business to you.  People are usually very willing to share their ideas and help you out.

Do some voluntary work yourself in the area that you want to develop in to give you valuable insight and knowledge to how things work.

Make sure that you have some regular time out to ensure that you can reflect and see how far your business is developing.

Share your vision with as many people as you like, you never know who your next customer will be, or they may know someone who would benefit from your services.

Share your skills with others and find out what you can offer each other.  For example someone may want to swap personal training in exchange for doing your tax return.  Money does not have to be the main exchange.

Learn the little details about people and they will really feel valued and looked after.  They will want to return to you because you have given a quality service.

Always follow up meetings and conversations with a phone call or an email.

If you do not know the answer to something or cannot offer then a particular service, then refer them onto someone who can help them.  People like it when they can get things sorted out quickly and efficiently.

Enjoy what you are doing and people will share your passion.
